Born and raised in New Zealand, Oliver moved to Hong Kong as a teenager. Lucky to be able to travel extensively, he experienced great cuisine in all its incarnations. From Beijing street food to fine dining at some of the world’s best restaurants, he developed a passion for all aspects of food and hospitality.
After finishing school, Oli worked and travelled throughout the Asia Pacific before moving to London, and later Brighton, to work Front of House in restaurants and bars. He trained as a chef in Contemporary European, Vegetarian and Fine Dining Restaurants rising to become a Head Chef as well as to discover a passion and aptitude for the business side of food & drink.
Oli founded Juniper Catering Limited in 2004 as a high-end catering company and hospitality consultancy. It was the synergy between the two operations of this business that led him to concentrate on his modern artisan bakery, which became The Flour Pot, as well as to create a new better kind of retail coffee shop selling its own delicious and freshly made products. Oli remains an authentic foodie’s foodie and his approach to baking and business is the one and the same – Mix the right ingredients together and they will rise!
